Press release: BrazenTellurite considering to buy insolvent RightNow

(Kassel/Düsseldorf, March 2, 2025) RightNow GmbH, which has filed for insolvency in Germany at the end of February 2025, could be on the verge of a strategic realignment. The German-Estonian LegalAI specialist BrazenTellurite expressed interest in a takeover or participation over the weekend and is already in contact with the insolvency administrator.

“The overall situation at RightNow seems dire, but perhaps there is still a way to salvage something here – for customers, for investors and for confidence in digital legal services,” says Guy Bockamp, founder of the BrazenTellurite Group, who works as a lawyer in Germany and Belgium.

RightNow GmbH, known for automated consumer legal claims, had previously experienced economic difficulties. According to Germany’s Manager Magazin [article in German], disputes arose over the management of the company. In Bockamp’s opinion, the industry is now facing not only a financial disaster but also a long-term loss of trust.

Bockamp blames the insolvency of RightNow primarily on a lack of innovation. It may be very early days, but it seems to him that in recent years RightNow has lacked the financial basis for innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence: “The technological standards that I see at RightNow today correspond to what our customers had already left behind in 2022”.

The Head of BrazenTellurite also criticized the fact that the company was founded without any involvement from the legal profession. “It just doesn’t work without legal frontline experience,” Bockamp continued. On Saturday morning, Bockamp criticized on LinkedIn that a LegalTech company without lawyers is “like a car repair shop without mechanics”. Among the original three founders of RightNow were two business economists and a legal scholar.

BrazenTellurite is currently evaluating whether a restructuring or a partial asset purchase makes sense. Bockamp is also not ruling out a participation with other investors. “We are currently analyzing various options and are open to discussions with investors and the insolvency administrator,” explains Bockamp. The Company has so far addressed only business customers, including law firms and consumer protection organizations in several EU countries. Bockamp, an attorney, has been working in the area of LegalTech and LegalAI since 2018 and founded BrazenTellurite in New York (USA) in 2022. The company’s software, which maintains server locations in Finland and Estonia, is being developed in Germany, Estonia and France.
